Write an introduction to an informative and factual blog post titled "How to Choose a College Major". Choosing a college major is not easy. It requires a lot of pre-planning and self-knowledge, which can be tricky when you're seventeen or older and you're still exploring your interests. Those who go to college often feel pressured into their choice of major, but don't need to! Here's how you can choose the right one for yourself: It’s important that your priorities align with what it takes in order to get your desired career. If taking jobs and internships and doing well in school is what you’re cut out for, then by all means, become a general studies major. You can learn how to be a jack of all trades this way, which is especially useful if you’re not quite sure what career path to take. While it might appeal to switch majors after graduation, do consider that this is not always an easy thing to do. If you plan on pursuing the career after graduating from college or university, it’s important that your degree can support your interest in the field. For example if you want to pursue a career in mechanical engineering you need to have at least some basic knowledge of machinery, math and sciences. It’s also important that the major used to support your career be a strong one. Generally, a student with a degree in business management will be able to find a job more easily than a student with a degree in English literature. If you already have an interest in the field of study, it's important to look for potential job prospects within that area of study after graduation. In order to succeed better in your field of choice, you need to spend time observing people who are already doing well in that field and trying to emulate what they do. The best way is by interning. Internships are great opportunities for many students to gain valuable experiences and make connections within their fields of study. When choosing your college major, it’s important that you consider your options. Weigh the pros and cons of each field of study and try to determine what you would enjoy doing for the rest of your life. Ask yourself questions like: What do I like to do? What am I good at? What am I passionate about? And if you’re still unsure of what to do after all that, don’t be afraid to look into less mainstream fields of study. It can be exciting to discover something new, especially if it interests you! It is impossible for one article or publication (even this one) to be completely thorough on any subject.
